July 4th and Fireworks Fundraiser

Hello,
We are looking to do a bake sale fundraiser during the July 4th Parade and Fireworks event.  To pull this off, we're going to need some help from our totally awesome group of volunteers.  Just some items we're going to need include:
- a table and chairs
- cooking of baked goods
- set up and disassemble of station for both events
- pick up and transport of items
- sit and help with sales of items and the distribution of ODB MOT, Inc flyers
If you or somebody you know would like to help, please contact Candace Calloway at (302)388-0179 or Alan Parcells at (302)230-6633.

Our Continental Breakfast and Fish Fry_Time to dig in!

ODB MOT, Inc is hosting another continental breakfast and fish fry on July 28th at the old town hall.  We will be serving breakfast from 9am, and then beginning the fish fry at 11am.  We will continue serving fish until 4pm or until we run out.  Cost of the breakfast is free, and the fish platter cost is $9.  So far this is our most popular event, so we are hoping for an awesome day!  For more information, please contact Tim DeSchepper @ (302)379-7366.  Thank you.

Our Best Meeting Yet

For those who missed our meeting last night, it was the best one yet!  We had a really good turnout and everything seemed to click.  To this point in time, it has been a difficult journey trying to get to where we are and where we want to be.  We are making a lot of great progress and becoming stronger as we move along in the process.  In the beginning, I just asked for one thing, your patience.  Everyone has been great and we would not be anywhere if we didn't have your support.  I foresee great things to come this summer and fall, so please stay posted and be on the lookout for our next events.  Have a great summer!

Our Cookout Yesterday

Happy Father's Day!  What a great day we had yesterday for our summer celebration!  We served approximately 50 meals and received about $80 in donations.  Thank you to everyone who attended and everyone who helped with the preparation work and the clean up.  Thanks to Walmart, Willey Farms, the Dutch Country Farmer's Market and all of our volunteers for making this meal possible.

We are truly making our mission happen by serving one meal at a time as we continue to look for a home.

Our Preparation Work for Saturday

Okay, new sidewalk "sandwich" signs were ordered yesterday and will hopefully be here before Saturday.  Otherwise, back to the old style yard signs.  Donation letter request for hotdogs and hamburgers was submitted to Walmart.  Advertising bill was released and paid for to the Middletown Transcript, ahead of schedule.  New treasurers report for the meal program was updated showing that we have $30 more this month than last.  Thank you to St. Joseph's Parish and Cathy Escherich for their continued support.  Have a great week everyone!

Our Summer Celebration

Please join us next Saturday, as we celebrate to bring in the summer.  We will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers in the Forest Presbyterian Church parking lot, located right across the street from the Everett Theatre, from 11am until 3pm.  The event is free and everyone is welcome!

Our First Blog

Hello everyone!  Thank you for visiting our blog.  Since I am new to the blogging world and Our Daily Bread Dining Room of M.O.T, Inc is a fairly new organization, I would like to give you a quick description of who we are and what we are about.  My name is Tim DeSchepper and I am the president of the organization that is working to find a home for Middletown-Odessa-Townsend (MOT) Soup Kitchen.  Our organization is made up of four officers, four board of directors and about 90 members and volunteers.  Our sole mission is to provide nutritious meals to low-income families, children, the elderly, individuals and the impoverished who are living in the MOT area.

I'm not sure how long these postings are suppose to be, but I will keep this one short and simple.  Our current goals are to find a home for the soup kitchen and to host special meal sessions and events for people until we find a home.  Our objectives will be to obtain enough funds to operate and maintain a soup kitchen through grant writing, fundraising and recurring sources of revenue.  We do believe that god is on our side, so all this will happen with a little time, hard work and prayer.  Thank you.  Hope you enjoy our first blog :)
